So I'm about to buy a reflector set. After doing all these do you have a preference or recommendation? Do you like what you have or wish for something different. Ever feel that you would like to have one of those large rectangular full body reflectors or is the round one doing just about everything you want?
I currently own and use a 42" round 5-in-1 reflector, a full-length collapsible white/silver reflector and various sized foam-core boards.
I find I use the 42" round most frequently because of it's size. It's large enough for good coverage but small enough to move around and use in my small studio space. I've used the large reflector on a stand for full-length portraits. Both come in handy I guess.
What I don't have and want, is a tri-reflector kit for portrait work. Something like this one:
Main: AB800 in 48" Octobox on camera left, metered to f/11
Fill: Round white reflector on camera right
Kickers: 2 x AB400 in gridded strip boxes on camera left and right, metered to f/9
Main: AB800 in 48" Octobox on camera left, metered to f/11
Fill: Round white reflector on camera right
Kickers: 2 x AB400 in gridded strip boxes on camera left and right, metered to f/9
Same setup from the last few days. Unfortunately, no pull back taken and I switched things up today (day 54).
3-Light Setup:

Got a new toy in the mail today. I tri-reflector holder. I just order the stand, no reflectors but I had a couple pieces of foam-core that substituted well as some. I didn't have a 3rd piece so the center reflector was not used. Will pick one up tomorrow to use in the next couple days to see how that affects the shot.
3-Light Setup:
Main: 2x2' soft box directly above and metered at f/11
Fill: 2 piece of white foam-core below left and right
Kickers: Large gridded strip boxes on left and right metered at f/9
Nice butterfly arrangement and the pose suits her very well.
Hey, does she still make you those delicious sandwich's for you when the shooting is done?
I really like the effect from those reflectors. Not sure if the pose is the main reason, but this pic jumps out more than some of the earlier ones (although there have been some great ones).

Thanks. Sandwiches and many other yummy stuff. Last night she made some really delicious steak for dinner with a seasoning/marinade that she came up with on her own.

Hmmm... I personally think I really nailed this shot. From the pose, to her expression, the angle of the shot, the lighting... I'm really happy with the way it came together. Maybe that's it.
BTW, I shot today's photo with the same setup. Took about 12 frames before we left for work. Curious to see how they turned out. They looked pretty good on the LCD.

Still following along might be interesting to see a one light shot and the try reflector. i did it a few times and it worked ok and it would be interesting tp see how you approach it.

OK. I will shoot this setup tomorrow. Will post the results.
Need to pick up another piece of foam core to use in the center of the tri reflector stand so I didn't take any shots with the rims turned off. I will pick some up today and hopefully take some shots with it tomorrow.

Alex, I hope you don't mind this post. Your work has stepped up in lighting but now you need to work on the next step in pp. Now that I just wrote that I remembered this thread might be just for lighting and not added pp. I would love to see post 233 with some pp.

No worries at all Chuck. I have been doing minimal PP on these shots. Minor skin work to remove a pimple or two and even out skin tone. Slight curves adjustment for black point and sharpening. I also clean up some wild hairs around the head.
Can you be specific as to what you feel needs more work or improvement?
some portrature and a couple of curves adjustments. Don't know if we spoke about it before but people who have the extra black circle around the outside of the iris have drop dead eyes.
Well Alex, since we are working you like a rented mule... You could, if you have the time, continue with the lighting setups, do an OOC Raw, OOC jpeg, and a finished PP version and of course the setup shot. That would turn this already great thread into a full fledged classroom. Next thing ya know Scott Kelby will be ringing you up.
Dang Charles, that took an already great shot and made it Vogue's next cover!
I have to disagree here. There are some good things here that Charles did, but I think the original looks good. I think the re-edit went too far over the top honestly.

If I post it, please tell me how to make it better. My fragile ego can take it.
I was started to feel really alone in this thread. Glad to know people are still interested. Pull backs coming with today's shot.

Watching, learning and trying not to muddy the thread up too much with not-so-helpful comments.

Or maybe a vampire termination station. You put the vamp in there and fry their little blood thirsty buts.

It does look like some sort of space age cockpit or something.
