there was a question in there somewhere, right...???
GTI is a 6-speed. I like it. You don't really need 6th until highway speeds, but if you don't mind being old-man-ish, you can prevent fuel-hungry dips into the turbo if you roll around straight backroads in 6.
If you had a choice in the same car. Hmm, tough call. I like rowing the gears, but sometimes its a pain... would one less make a difference? prolly not. If thoughts like that are in your head, get a DSG or auto, they are so good these days, performance nuts have little to complain about - the DSG is every bit as quick as a pro driver in a stick, or faster than a novice in a stick. Granted most cars don't have anything as good as the DSG. Yet.
Are cherry ripes really that good? I had never heard of them until your sig (what's that from anyways?) and they don't sound that hot to me (cadburry's chocolate on dried cherry).

EDIT: Just went to the freezer, and got one, thanks for the thought!
A few shots from Saturdays drive. I apologize that they're not all the same size.
Pops didn't teach you about white balance? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...sorry, I had to...I'm just mean because I get home for break friday night, saturday morning the expansion tank in the Porsche decides to bust, the car is out of commission until tonight, and I leave tomorrow morning (dad wanted the dealer to do it since it's still under warranty...otherwise I'd have been back on the road in a couple hours...kind of a coincidence though: tank was fine, go to dealer for air and oil filter, walk back from parts dept to the car, see a puddle, and have to drive over to the service bay).

I actually should have mentioned that I didn't take any of those. My camera is fux0red at the moment so I think I'll wait and save for a more decent one.
Uhg I don't want something that big. I want something small enough and slim enough to fit in my pocket.
Ok ok, how about a Leica M7...come on Andy, he needs an M7, I don't think you should deny him...early Xmas gift time
Or how about a Nikon FM2n with a 45 f/2.8 pancake lens.
On second thought, I'd take an M7 too.
As far as compacts go, I do actually like that new canon SD700 IS...well, as much as a person can possibly like a compact anyways.
I googled the m7 and it looks really old and bulky. Think thinner!
Bah, kids these days have no appreciation for film...and I was mainly just giving your dad a hard time since the M7 runs around $3000.
Canon SD700IS though, that's pocketable and has good specs...plus I think IS is something that no point and shoot should be without since their high iso sucks.

SON OF A.... The car won't be ready until tomorrow since they are waiting on a part being FedEx'd from Atlanta...this ain't Mercedes where 90% of the parts my 20 year old MB (as opposed to dad's 4 year old Porsche) are in stock, and the ones that aren't can be had same day because they get 2 truckloads from New Jersey every day...so I got to drive the new car for a total of about 5 minutes...ho-fing-ray. I swear I have the worst luck of anybody who isn't completely down and out. It's like, ok sure my dad has a Porsche, but at the same time I have the bad luck of not driving it. 10:1 says something happens to it the next time I'm home too. So my last three vacations have had brake failure leading to an accident, stupidity leading to an accident, and poor quality leading to no driving of the new car.

Shouldn't you be off at the library? Studying?
Have a good time

I was making fun of the way you type, then I told you to stay off the marijuana.
That will be one steak dinner, or one case of cherry ripes, or the title to the mini, or some nice long L glass. The choice is yours.

Marlinspike - Go easy on the lad. Cra$h uses an $8 8-meegapicksell Ebay camera, he does not know from White Balance.

And come on Andy, don't be cheap with the boy, get him a 1Ds Mk2 and 24-70 2.8L.

another comment: why'd you hide the best car in the group behind all the branches?
I truly lust for a 911 SC ('77-'83).
