Let's get that FILM BADGE processed, shall we? Need to find out how close you're getting to the federal radiation dose limit (is it still 5 Rem per calendar year?)!
I have free and unrestricted access to a digital x-ray.

I'll be posting an x-ray photography gallery soon in my SmugMug page, check back there in two days or so if you're interested.

I've also got a lot of recent photos from the Galapagos posted.

    And my headshot:

Edit: I've added the x-ray photos to my SmugMug page.

    hello
    Hi there !

I found this forum sort of by accident. I was searching info about 21 mm Zeiss - Biogon, Distagon .. etc and so on, I've tracked this thread in here.
As I've registered and posted one photo already, I just wanted to say hello to You folks ! Greetings from Central Europe - Poland

I don't even want to know how much cancer I'm going to get. Some days I'm in radiology for 5 hours straight. I'm not sure when our badges get picked up, but I don't think anything can save me now.

Sigh. It's been so long that I can't even remember what these things are called, but why not go to a military surplus store and ask for a radiation- detecting device that kind of looks like a pen--get the CHARGER for it, too.

The way it works is that the charger zeros the little needle inside this "pen". As ionizing radiation passes through, it resulting charge causes the needle to move across the scale. The more radiation that passes through, or the longer a certain dose RATE of radiation passes through, or the more often you receive radiation, the "pen" effectively stores a record of the total accumulated dose.

What's more, you can read that dose right away through a lens on one side of that "pen"!

    RIGHT AWAY, mind you!

And as somebody else develops the film badge, if something WRONG is discovered, how well can you trust that person or chain of persons to properly inform you?

Oh, and you might want to include lots more anti-oxidants in your diet. Some of the radiation interaction products are free radicals. And anti-oxidants LOVE to munch on free radicals!!!

Oh: I think those things are called "pocket dosimeters".

Well thank you for the complimentwave.gif

Nope, I wasn't driving just then...here's a fun one though: my daughter (who had her learner's permit at the time) was driving me around for practice. I took this through the window with my old S2 that I sold to a good friend when I bought my D70s. This is actually one of my fave self-portraits, probably because it doesn't show my face Laughing.gif!

    cheers,

The lighting and the character that shines through in your face makes this a very nice picture.
You look honest and friendly even when half your face is in shadow. Nicely done.

This is my first post here at dgrin. I've been shy to show myself here and I hate being in front of the lens...but here I am! I took this today and messed with it in PS. I call this my Thai Farrah Fawcett shot. Nice to be here...I really love looking at the photo challenges and will soon enter one myself.

    MySpace-tastic self shot.

New to SmugMug and DGrin, anyone want to take pity and help me "customize" my smugmug?

    Gear - Nikon D50
    Canon T50

    Accessories - Nikkor 18-55mm
    Nikkor 70-300mm
    Nikon SB-800 Speedlight
    Sunpack 3300 PRO
    2 - 1Gig Panasonic Super High Speed 66x Cards
Also, ancient lens and ancient flash for the Canon.

Stuff- I usually photograph horses @ shows, events, and barn shoots. I'm also supposed to shoot a ballet company's dress rehearsal soon, yay! I'm currently working my way into making this a side job, and it currently pays for itself. Maybe one day it'll help pay other bills too :)
