New to DGRIN!
Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself, my name is Amanda, and I'm currently in the process of starting to take pictures for money. I have had no schooling, I have no common sense in cameras, and I have no clue what automatic white balance and shutter speed have to do with photography.
Yes, I am an uncertified idiot! But there is one thing I do enjoy...
And that's taking pictures. That's why I'm here. I want to learn the tricks and secrets to make any photograph look it's best. I'm here to soak up as much knowledge as I can, and learn from all the greats out there. I enjoy viewing others work too because I absolutely love to see how others view life and objects.
I am shooting with a Canon Digital Rebel XT EOS. And I'm not even sure what those letters stand for.
Hey, I'm coming in with honesty!
Again, I am glad to be here, I have been lurking for awhile now, but I felt it's time to get my share of fun here. I want you to know you ALL have BEAUTIFUL pictures. I can't wait to learn from you all!
New comer Hi there everyone. I will put my photo on if someone would be good enough to send me the necessary staps to take. I have just purchased a Canon 400D with an 18-55mm lense. I live by the sea and I love taking photos of the many species that can be found on the foreshore. I therefore bought a Sigma 70 - 300mm lense and it is quite good. I have family visiting from the States soon and I was going to get them to bring me a Sigma 50 - 500mm lense to fit on my 400D. Can anyone tell me what this type of lense is like and if I am doing the right thing. Your replys will be more than appreciated. Bob Dumfries & Galloway Scotland

Well, it's time I said hello and introduced myself officially. With all the CSS tweaking help I've gotten, and now some very kind words in the business card thread, I should at least start expanding on DGrin and posting other places.
I'm Julia - and I'm not a pro. But I do love having a SmugMug account for family and friends.
Hello everyone, been spending the last couple of days editing my new smugmug site and the information provided by everyone here has been invaluable to me, thank you so much.
Just got back into photography after several years away and still very new to digital photography. After many happy years with an old Nikkormat FTN, i finally bit the bullet and bought a shiney new D200 and some nice sigma glass.
That's me in the Avatar. Well it's actually my missus but it would have been me if I had been standing where she was standing and wearing a spotted skirt. A round of applause for anyone who can guess where it was taken.
How's it going, peoples? I'm a student of photography from California. I'm most interested in documentary and photojournalistic photography. Here's my photo:

One day, I started writing, not knowing that I had chained myself for life to a noble but merciless master. When God hands you a gift, he also hands you a whip; and the whip is intended solely for self-flagellation...I'm here alone in my dark madness, all by myself with my deck of cards --- and, of course, the whip God gave me." I do a little video work but I decided I want to get back into photography. The new DSLR's are awesome and the price is right
Note: Used Lightsphere II in this photo, I love this thing.
