Cost: There is no fee for the tuition or attendance of the shootout and workshop! SmugMug picks up the cost of the pros who are leading the workshop. Attendees pay their own way, and pay for the lodging and meals. The exact lodging costs are still to be determined but will be in the range of $75 to $95 per night, per person.

Payment: Is in two installments. The first payment ($250) is due by January 15th, and the balance (TBD) is due by May 15. Deposits are refundable up until May 15, 2007. Once you have paid your full balance you have bought your room.

I'm confused. Is the $250 deposit for the rooms?

If I went for the $75/night then the total would be $375. The remaining due would be $125, right?

I just want to be able to clearly explain the costs to my wife tonight. :D

The room rates vary, and while we have the rooms set aside, the contract still needs to be finalized. It looks like for 2 you're looking at a total of $650-$950 for 5 nights, depending on the rooms. I've only got a couple of 2 bunkers left, so get your deposit in quickly, if you don't want to be in a 3 person cabin.

The East and West Lodges are 2 person rooms, and the balance are these cabins which will sleep 3.

We are also splitting the cost of the meeting room for our workshops, which is a number that is still in flux. Right now we're working with $20/head for that. Depending on the deal we can work out, that may come down.

But yes, the cost of the rooms, plus your share of the meeting room rate is all that we are charging for. You'll get the hosted banquet and the wisdom of the pros thrown in, courtesy of Smugmug. Everything else, including the rest of your food is on you.

Perhaps a pre or post shoot out through some of the Canadian parks - I can do some arranging for this!!! Let me know if there might be interest (Nik?) (post shoot out could include Waterton, the prairie/foothills up to Canmore & Banff - I know condo owners in Canmore and a hotel owner in Jasper, so let me know)

If I get my US citizenship by that time (which I hopeully will - fingers crossed) - post-shootout very likely. And it would be great to have you as a guide:-)
Otherwise it would be too much hassle for me, with visas and such...ne_nau.gif
Anyway, my deposit is already in David's hands, and we have almost a year to decide on what we gonna do while we're in that area...:-) clap.gif

    Man, I'm excited! wings.gif

It must have to go through customs.

Now worries, aporia. You're space is reserved, and I'm sure it'll come through.

    I'm in - e-mail and payment sent.

I'm driving out and will provide rides for as many photographers and gear as my Nissan xTerra can carry. Hopefully that will cut the need for at least one rental car.

    Andy,

I've really been looking forward to this. The last two years I couldn't go because the shootouts were in May and that's when I do the annual motorcycle Run For The Wall gig from Ontario, California to Washington, D.C.

I've met and shot with HarryB. Now I'm looking forward to meeting many of the other DGrinners. wings.gif

If time permits, what is the possibility of having a class on customizing our Smugmug sites similar to Andy's Moon River Photography site?

That's warm for up there this time of year. And not too different from what Chicago has at the moment. Oh, and Gus, glad to have you on board for the trip!

There's always RNO, SFO or SJC and a short two day drive....might as well.
Heck, it's only a day or two's OT and you get to see a lot of the American
    West including Lake Tahoe.
