Who's else coming from the SF Bay area? I know that there are a few! What's the best way to get there?
I am. So far, Gus and I are going to drive up. I'm thinking about SFO to
PDX to SLC sort of thing. Home via SLC/LAS/LAX kind of thing--a giant

I just got back from vacation and was checking the thread and Im so happy that so many people from last year could come out again. I need all the protection from wild animals I can get.

Remember, you don't have to be faster than the bear, just faster than the person you're with.
coming from a backpacker who has come face-to-face with many black bears and only seen a grizzly twice close up that they are very rare. normally they just see you and run off. but occasionaly they do come up to check you out. best bet is to climb a tree with a grizzly because they're land roamers and not made for climbing
