    I really like that.

If anyone handed me a card like that I would be compelled to check out the website. And if contact information is at the site why put it on the card also? Take a note from Andy's successful way of writing a telephone number on the card when necessary. It gives you an additional moment of face time with a potential client and maybe a handshake as well. Learn to close the sale, not paper the walls.

    Good luck.
    Seems like a great tip.

Sometimes; it is nice to actually have the phone number. Say they need to meet you at a site location, they're running 20 minutes late, they say "doooh! his card doesn't have a phone number!"

So; you could have 2 versions and say "oh, let me dig out the version that has a phone number since I definately don't want to miss your calls". Still gets the face time without having everyone who picked up your card at a wedding filling up your cell phone with unnecessary calls.

And it looks like it! :D But don't worry, we've all been there.

I highly recommend that you learn a little something about design. It's a HUGE help in getting a card that works. Check out The Non-Designer's Design Book as a place to start. You need to understand the basics of good design to even begin a card that is well designed. Your design is a very standard business card design on top of a picture. The top line centered, the bottom is mostly left-justified with a little bit that right-justified and left orphaned. The font is kind of ordinary, and I don't really know what you're trying to communicate with this card.

If you're in Illinois, K&M Printing in Schaumburg does outstanding cards and brochures. I've been using them for years. Tell them I referred you and they'll give you some kind of discount.

    Ok, here's mine
Just before I considered closing up shop here, I created this 2-sided card and ordered 250 of them.

Simple, I know, and "standard" text formatting, etc. But, it beats what I had before!

Any comments across the Atlantic welcome!
What a godsend this forum is! I have learnt so much from all the posts, which was so timely. Like so many people here I have been putting off ordering my new cards! I've put a couple of versions on the same theme. I've put them on a coloured background so you can see where the edges are and they include a bleed. There's also a back which I'm thinking of using. Any thoughts?

    I use local print shop.....
They just seem to do a better job than the internet. I tried a couple of different places on the net before I was satisfied with a local store. And the price was good too. They made me 1000 cards on nice heavy stock for $40!!!!

My card is a photo of my two girls at the beach. Our name, KayMag Photography is the first three letters of their names....

This was my first attempt at a business card. I had no idea how to gear it, considering, I'm not only in the business of wedding photography, but also youth sports, or newborns, etc. Any suggestions, or should I make seperate sets (expensive)?

    Gary, that's pretty good!

I would make the gradient on the flowers much softer. It's too abrupt. And change the hyphen after your name to a bullet. •

    Shannon, that's a nice card.

I think you can get business cards for so cheap these days that you shouldn't be afraid of making different ones that are targeted.

As for this one, I would think about losing one phone number and the email. I would assume that if I go to your website I can find the email. I just like 'em simple. :D

    com,

I like everything about the card, except for the way you treated the image. Maybe it's because I'm not into bikes, but I just don't get it, and I find it hard to read (the image).

every motorcyclist that sees my card cringes, as they know EXACTLY what it is with no explaination. :D 99.999999% of the biz i do is motorcycles.

BTW, it's called a High-Side... back and of the bike came around, then caught traction, then ejected the rider from the seat, sending him into orbit briefly. it's the worst kinda crash you can have at the track, pretty much.

    thanks for the thoughts though!

this is my old card (which i still have about 50 or so left that i also give away)... it's single sided, matte finish, white on the back.

    I like it better. You?

There seems to be some banding in it, though. Not sure if it's just the web messing it up, or not.
