critique please! I'm still in the developing stages
Sorry to be blunt, but... your card looks like you just threw text at it. If I was looking for a photographer I wouldn't consider someone who handed me a card that looks like this. Your business card may be the first impression that someone has of your business. Step back, decide how you want it to represent your business, and design a look.
critique please! I'm still in the developing stages, glad I found this thread!
You probably should hire a designer for your logo and your business cards. There are sites where you can find freelancers who would do both for less than $100 if you're strapped for cash. But a logo and a business card is not something to save money on. What you've posted does not reflect well on your skill.
thanks guys admitedly that was thrown together at 3am one night lol!!
An obvious question asked here often - why have your own domain name but an e-mail address at Gmail (or at any other free service, for that matter)? It looks seriously cheap.

Great question, I've seen it posed to other before as well. But honestly I prefer the ease and usability of gmail. I have a godaddy account with e-mail but yuck!
I can see your point, I'll look into getting it changed. Now do you prefer the card without the name or with the name? And should I keep the photographer or lose photographer.

With name, but without 'photographer'. It's just unnecessary verbiage. No one will mistake you for a carpenter.

You can easily set up gmail to read and reply to your godaddy mail. From your customer's perspective they will never know you are using gmail. It takes about 2 minutes to set up in gmail and godaddy has a great tutorial on how to do it.
Here's my current card, would love to get your takes on it. Please keep in mind that I am primarily an art photographer rather than portrait or event photographer although I will occasionally do an event for a friend.

I too only do fine art. Nice picture, but I'm not a fan of photos on a business card. I also can hardly read the text.

Go ahead and check out Google Apps (for your domain). The standard edition is free. You basically make some changes in your DNS settings at GoDaddy to redirect your mail to GMail. You'll have the same GMail interface you know and love but with a custom email address. You'll manage everything via the Google control panel in an account separate from your regular GMail account. You could always also forward your GoDaddy email address to your current GMail account, but that means your responses would reveal your real email address.
I know. I deleted the message because I can't seem to get the business card down to 146 kb. Even at 72 dpi, it's still showing its 581 kb. Never had this problem with photos.

Trying this again, with slightly larger sized card. This is the front of the card. I'll post the back side if this one is readable. Let me know if you can see if ok. Thanks, Karen

Me personally, I don't like the script font for your website. Use the same font for your e-mail. I would ditch the name 'e-mail- too.
Ok, thanks for the suggestions. Here's the backside.
Looks like that is full-size (2" x 3.5") and I can't read your name. EDIT: I guess it's not text they're "squirley". Tag line is cheesy too. But maybe it's just me.

You're much better embedding your images than attaching them. Check the link in my signature for more info on posting pics.
When I downloaded my card, I did use the manage attachments section and followed those sizing instructions. I don't have smugmug, flicker or any of those (just my own website).

I don't care for the font for the contact info and lose the all caps too....very hard to read.
Get a 'real' e-mail address instead of a gmail account, something like info@24kphotos.com

here's one I think I've settled on, now the question is name or no name?

I was going to ask why you didn't have any contact info on it, but then I finally spotted it down at the bottom. It's kind of hard to read....
Nice pic, though!

I'm curious as to why you don't like photos on a business card. As for the text, that's easy to fix.

No reason other than I prefer a cleaner look. Maybe I'm old school or just old, I don't know.
