good, so good from the dgrin pov, but what does the trademark have to say about it? im really more curious than if i really even care if its one way or the other....i just thought to see what what said....but i guess it would mean i will enter one shot over the other from my two ive done
(this is to help newer members understand...)(and to help me make it as big as allowed:D )
the rules have a discription of what is allowed, but i was wondering if a example of one linked or something to just help them size it correctly.
small is smaller to some, small is just not discribing it good to me....

I just don't think having two clicks to get to the thread instead of one is the best solution.
Heavens NO!!! Clicking TWICE!!!??!!! I know, we make it sooooo hard for you.
I for one support Emily 100% and thank her for finally finding the time to organize this joint. It's an easy choice between:
a) Adding 3 seconds to your life by clicking twice, or
b) adding countless hours to Emily's and my (volunteer) life by constantly answering the same question and linking people to the right thread.
So Llywellyn, as an editor, are you telling me you don't appreciate a well-organized table of contents that you consult before flipping to the right page???

:giggle As an editor I do consult the TOC, but editing a book/magazine and editing a web page are very different.
I'm happy sitting in my camp. You guys run this, and I'm happy you do so. I don't get to see the backend, so my opinion comes only from my narrow, limited view as an end user. As always, do as you will! I will comply. And I can hold on to my opinion while doing so. No harm done to anyone anyhow.
I expressed an opinion. The opinion was heard. /issue
it's not as dirty as it sounds: IANAL is a Usenet and chat abbreviation (acronym) for "I am not a lawyer." A similar abbreviation, TINLA, stands for "This is not legal advice."

it just occured to me....maybe i should just start googling my questions prior to asking my questions.....>enter smiliy hitting himself in the forehead...DOH!<

Ahhh, but then it would not benefit the others here, would it?
A very valid question, and a tricky one. From what I can, there's nothing to stop you from using it for this contest, as long as you don't get anywhere with it. However, the Dgrin rules state that it remains your image, but Dgrin can use it for advertising purposes. That's where the tricky part comes in. If Dgrin plasters it on the banner, is it then infringment? Dgrin is a free site, so it's not selling anything by using that logo, but it is sponsored by SmugMug. So I guess that still boils down to an "I'm not sure". I suppose if an entry like that gets that far, perhaps it will just not make it to the winner's gallery.
i agree that its good to have these questions asked here, i was meaning in reference to the questions asked that i should just google...like what is "IANAL"....:D ...that was the strangest thing too me...haha
btw, ive decided against the trademark shot, but its still good to know about entering trademark stuff anyway.
IANAL - I always thought it had something to do with being anal retentive as in "I am anal". Which if you read the statement "IANAL, but I believe this falls under Fair Use." with my understanding of what it meant, you can image the expression on my face.
OK - from the emphasis on 'PHOTOS' - I'll take it that no 3D rendered elements are allowed at all - that simplifies things
(although there's a lot of 'product shot' type 'photos' around ... which aren't ... they're renders of models )
<< really not following you >>
As an example - if I'd taken a photo of a table with stuff on it and I wanted to add an object - that either didn't exist IRL or I didn't have access to - then an option would be to model that object, render it (in accordance with the lighting and perspective of the photo) ... and then create a composite image from both the photographic and rendered image elements (photo being the major percentage in both area / pixels ... and subject matter.)
Had no intention of turning it into a modelling contest - just had an idea for something and wanted to check
thx again

I am going to call myself "puzzledara" soon! I had no clue you can add stuff to a photo... Here I was in the Canyon this morning, way before sunrise, woken my dog early, waiting and waiting for the right moment... and now I understand that I can add an Eagle to the photo that I finally captured as he never showed up! Wow... I must have been away too long... and then again... I think I will stick to taking some real photos!!!

Winner's Gallery
All right, I now have the top five from each round proudly displayed in the Winner's Gallery. You'll also notice that those images are rotating up in the second slot of the banner above (along with the original Challenge winners). YAY!

Ahhh... by that time there'll be an 'even newer' crowd (hopefully- from Dg pov) who'll benefit from the 'one stop shop' approach ?
(Having been a mod / admin elsewhere for 6+ yrs I see 'thread / post blindness' + not bothering to read rules ... on a regular basis.)

thats great, i thought i was doing something wrong....
I still think two stickies isn't overkill. :giggle Sticky 1: "Oh, rules! Readreadread. Alright, I'm ready to enter." Sticky 2: "Oh, here's where I enter. Easy peasy!"
I'll just sit stubbornly in my camp, because it affects nothing. My bum may just get sore, is all.
And Aaron, I have no idea about TM usage for images not for sale.
Hmmmm...lemme check on that one for sure.

good idea...or waste of time?
Great suggestion! I'll add it to my "to do" list.

Sorry, very old photo and very crude post work...
Love that plane there!
I am only teasing at the direction "photography" has taken... Being a "beginner" I really get puzzled at times...
