Slowness? Post your trace routes here!!
This morning was the normal "megaslow" speed - so I figure starting a thread to help Don and other Ops people work out the slowness would be beneficial... Here's my trace route to hera.smugmug.com during the slowness... C:\Windows>tracert hera.smugmug.com Tracing route to hera.smugmug.com [63.81.134.23] over a maximum of… -
Re: Flash Question(s) 580EX II
The state of the art of designing hardware smarts is just not there yet. What you are asking for is very much into the realm of artifical intelligence - the ability to view a scene and apply some smarts to figure out what the photographer is intending. The Canon systems does pretty good with back-lit subjects when you use… -

There are three prime locations: the Viera Wetlands off of exit 191 of 95, the Orlanod Wetlands of exit 215 and Merritt Island NMR of exit 220. Viera is a an unspectacular location that just provieds a steady stream of photo ops. The cast of characters… -
Re: How to adjust skin tones in RGB
Okay, so I've been doing some long overdue reading about color spaces, and I can't believe what I've been missing. I've decided that it's time for me to upgrade to PS CS3 when it comes out, since I have clearly outgrown PSE. But back to my original question about how to apply this tutorial in RGB space, I think I have a… -

Mini-Challenge #191: Music and Sound - Results
Firstly I would like to thank everyone for taking part, a tricky subject for sure, and I really enjoyed seeing the photos and interpretations. Firstly a couple of photos on which I would like to comment - not because I am claiming any expertise, or that they are any better or worse than the others. I really like this photo… -
my 2009
2009 was a fun year in terms of photography. I learned A LOT. I got fairly comfortable with an umbrella and reflector and using the nikon CLS. I found the 85mm 1.4 is my favorite lens. I went full frame. My post processing skills got MUCH better espcially in terms of sharpening and NR. Most importantly I am beggining to be… -
Help! Camera slips when mounted vertical on tripod...
:dunno HELP, please! I have a Canon 20D with a 24-70 lens. Not the biggest lens in the world, but has some heft to it. I screwed up and bought a SunPak tripod, one of the better pan head ones, but still... For one thing, the head wobbles on the center column even when every knob is completely tight; not good. Most…
