    Slideshow thumbs not working
In this thread, there are several folks discussing the fact that in their homepage slideshows, the thumbs below the slideshow simply don't work. No matter which thumb you click on, it takes you back to the first image in the slideshow. Something is just busted. At least one user says they are using a feed for the slideshow, but I have no idea if that is related or not. For an example of this, go to this site: http://www.kylelamyphoto.com/, wait for the slideshow to load up, then click on several different thumbs. In all cases, they go to the same image.

Sure seems like a bug to me unless they are missing some magic setting to make this work.

Hm, it's working fine here http://andydemo.smugmug.com/
I wonder what's different about those that are not working.

You are drawing from an albumID in that site. All the examples I've seen that don't work draw from a feed.

I can't logout. Using FF3.0.5 on a PC. I click log out. Go back to the page I was viewing, and I'm still logged in. Refreshing doesn't help.

Well, I know I can do that, but I shouldn't need to. Just thought I'd let you know about the bug. I remember seeing it before, then it got squashed, now it seems to be back again.

    Images are not showing
Most Images are not showing up - they are just blank grey squares.

A lot of Galleries will not show up even and links are not workingheadscratch.gif

I hope this can be fixed soon, i have more images to add to Galleries but want to wait til this problem on my site is fixed so I'm sure I'll be able to see them. Thank you!

    Smugmug acting up
The site is slow and acting weird. Among other things the slide shows don't work. They require an album password??? I say they because I have a regular and a pro account and neither one works. The uploader is rejecting jpegs as wrong type.....uploader is timing out.... I don't think it's me headscratch.gif but then again crazy people never think they ARE crazy.

Apparently there is a problem with email upload. But homepage slideshow is working okay.

Cannot get photos to display: this is a first!
I hope I am posting this question in the right spot.

My photos are not displaying at all in a gallery. They were there and then gone. I am using the latest Mac OSX update (which included a Safari update), and I use Safari.

    My problematic gallery is here:
    http://marieboyer.smugmug.com/gallery/6822974_AqNLC#436026188_ge945

It is empty of photo (at least in my Safari browser). But just 2 minutes ago it had all photos visible.

I could tell there was some sort of problem as soon as I logged in because I saw little blue question marks on many feature photos (also never seen that before).

Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Marie, Apple's done something in their latest release - and we hope they'll fix it :cry

In the meantime, please use Firefox on your Mac.

    Typo in Wiki
In the wiki entry about music here, there is a typo.

    .gallery_XXXXXX #my_music {dispaly: block;}

    should be

    .gallery_XXXXXX #my_music {display: block;}

Notice that "display" is spelled wrong.

Thanks Andy! Happened again in Safari tonight but displays fine in Firefox, so Apple still has not fixed. I will take your advice in the meantime. Much appreciated.

    Hi,

Long time smugmugger here, experiencing new problem. I did a brief search but didn't see any similar problem reports. Firefox 3.0.5 is locking up (spinning widget freezes) whenever I try to add new photos using the "Simple" uploader.

From my home page I click "Add Photos" then click an existing gallery in the drop down, and the browser freezes. It says "Transferring data from upload.smugmug.com" in the status bar. If I clear cookies and repeat, it gives me the uploader chooser page but as soon as I click on "Simple" the browser freezes again.

To get out of it, I click the upper right "X", get the MS "The program is not responding" window, then click "End Now".

It works fine from IE 7. I first noticed the problem on Christmas Day, and it may be the first time I tried to upload photos since getting an automatic firefox update. Not 100% sure on that though.

    Any suggestions? Known problem?

    Thanks,
    -Chris

Selected photo appears under thumbnails in smugmug view
I am puzzled. I uploaded a group of photos to a new gallery, then arranged them in the order I wanted. When I went back to look at my gallery, the header appeared small and the selected photo appeared under the thumbnails leaving the whole right side of the screen empty. All other galleries also appear this way. On some of the other galleries the header shows and on others it doesn't. I logged in on another computer and it did not have this problem. Please help!headscratch.gif

Reset the zoom or text size to default for the browser and see if it fixes it.

I continue to have a problem with my Art Show category galleries? About 24 hours ago, I changed my thumbnails in Customization from "original" to "square" for all category galleries. So far, thumbs for only two galleries have been updated along with a few others. Is this normal? ...to take so long to change thumbnails from "original" to "square"? Or is there a problem with the photo files in those galleries? Appreciate any reply or suggestions. Thanks.

FYI...my problem is fixed now. I again went to Tools/Adjust Thumbnails for each gallery in question, set to "square" again, selected "all" again, and saved. All of a sudden, after 24 hours without changing, all thumbnails were set to "square" fairly quickly. So, case closed for now. headscratch.gif

I reported this last week and Andy replied that it was a bug and it would be fixed, but it hasn't been fixed (sorry if I didn't give it more time).

Some of my galleries have photo captions, and they display fine when you view the photo individually. But when you play the gallery slideshow, some of the captions cut off in mid-sentence.

    See this gallery:
    http://nomad.smugmug.com/gallery/6421535_GywPP#406727370_u4SZ2
    Photo #8

The word bubble displays the caption when you scroll over it or view it individually, but play the slideshow and you'll see it cuts off.

Can anyone help fix the bug?
    thanks

So... Andy said this was on Shizam's list after he finished a "current offering". Any word on progress? This is not really just a nuisance thing, it makes the full screen slideshow junk for me. I just put together my December album to share with family and at least a half-dozen of the captions get cut off in slideshow. It's very aggravating.

As heartwarming as it is to know that you agree with me (and I do actually mean that - it's always nice to know someone is listening) it's no substitute for a commitment to a fix. I would think bug fixes to core functionality (and for better or worse the full screen slideshow is now a core function) would take top priority.

I discovered this issue when running someone's page through the W3C validator (because they were getting weird errors in IE).

If you pick a username that starts with a number, then you will end up with an invalid CSS ID in your page. There's one place in the page where an ID is generated with the username and no prefix on the username. If your username starts with a digit as in the example below, the W3C says that it's an invalid CSS ID. A simple solution would be to use an alpha-prefix on the ID. Here's an example:
    <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" id="4EverPhotographyCSS" href="http://www.4everphotography.com/include/css/gecko/1.9/win/user_4EverPhotography-20081230125246-stretch.css" />

    From this customer's site:

    http://www.4everphotography.com/

I don't know if it does any harm or not, but seems like something that's easy to change to not take any risk that some browser will barf on it.

Hi, Becksie. I believe you actually have to open a gallery to use the buy button for products. On categories and galleries pages, the buy button does as you said. mwink.gif
