Nice shots, Nik! I love the bridge they built. I have been there before, but never really toured the gardens, just the museum/library. You did a fantastic job. thumb.gif

So thats how Nik got that picture or was he just taking a nap.

    Hi all,
Again, it was nice to meet Nik and Chris. Sorry some folks couldn't make it.
I introduced Seefutlung to smugmug and he in turn introduced me to the forum on smugmug. I guess it's a fair exchange.

We at LA Shooters like to shoot just about every weekend and many members have smugmug accounts as well.

My goal with the LA Shooters is to have a forum where if you want company for shooting, you can post and others can join in vs just me arranging weekly group shooting. If you go by yourself, we also like to get a unoffical report and a link to the shots so we can see, make critiques and comments as well.

I encourage all the members that recently joined from here or anywhere to post whatever you want to shoot and ask for company.
    Tom

    UCLA Japanese Garden
I'm planning an outing to the UCLA Japanese Garden on Friday, September 8th, time TBD if space is available. It is only open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, with reservations required (and only Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Time is also limited to 50 minutes!

It's hidden away amongst the millionare houses of Bel-Air, and is supposedly a really fine garden. I've never been there because it's just a pain to get into, but I'm finally going to do it.

Complete information is here. The first link defaults to flash, the second to HTML only.

    http://www.japanesegarden.ucla.edu/
    http://www.japanesegarden.ucla.edu/html/index.html

If you'd like to go but this day doesn't work, you can suggest another day and I'll use that as an alternate.

PM or reply here... I want to send the request in soon...
    Chris

Lunchtime I could definitely make. 3pm is iffy, but I'll try. Haven't been to the Tail, yet! :D

Next field trip: Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. :D (I can walk there from work!)

    Seattle Meetup?
Anyone up for a Seattle meetup at the new Olympic Sculpture Park Saturday (1/27/2007) morning?

Here's the details of the park.
    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sculpturepark/

I'm thinking of arriving when it opens at 7 AM before the crowds arrive.

    EDIT:
One word of warning, per the Seattle Art Museum's rules for the park: "Personal photography is permitted but may not be used commercially. "

    Bump...

What no takers? None of you dgrinners from the Pacific Northwest are interested in dragging themselves out of bed and joining me down at the Olympic Sculpture park tomorrow at 7AM. I went down to the park this evening to scope it out for tomorrow. I had my 3 yr old daughter with me which makes it really difficult to snap pictures, but I did get this...

Oh man... sorry I missed your post. I was there on Saturday from 11:00-1:00--not exactly the sweet spot for light and the crowds. But, I still got some keepers. I saw several other serious shooters as well. I'm definitely planning on more trips in the future when the crowds die down. The photographic opportunities appear endless right now.
