Chris,
I will be shooting the half marathon on the 4th there in HB. I also have passes to the WAP/SD Zoo through the fall. The new Journey through Africa tram is nice.

Cool. From the schedule it looks like the run & parade are going simultaneously. I'm not sure what my plans are after that, maybe hanging out & doing some street shooting. I plan on bringing my Holga & a few rolls or film for fun.
It would be cool to arrange some kind of outing to the Zoo or WAP. I attended a FM outing to the WAP a few years ago, and while I caught flack all day (I showed up with a Nikon P&S while everyone else was shooting Canon heavy artillery--talk about gear envy!), it was a lot of fun. ..if for nothing else than watching the parting of the Red Sea when we approached, all those big white lenses did a wonderful job of clearing our path. Anyway, if anythong gets rolling, my preference would be WAP--I'm overdue to visit again & the new tour sounds really interesting.
OK, my plans for the day are finalized: I'm at the parade (probably in the "photo area" I expect), then heading back to my brother-in-law's so we can paint an engine & engine bay--gotta get the beast put back together. Then back down to the pier in the evening for the fireworks show--I have no idea where we're going to end up for that.
that would be cool. There's one coming up Sun. 9/9 (I'm not sure if that is over Sun night, but I would guess so) and runs from 3:30 PM to 9 AM the next day.
If enough of us (15) are interested, we could get a group rate
but other wise, this inland empirean (?) would be up for a so cal meet up on other days as well.

Sounds really cool. I'll have to check my calendar.
I actually looked at their info page this time & it sounds really interesting. I shouldn't have a problem convincing my wife or with scheduling--it's the day before our anniversary & would be a fun way to celebrate.
BTW, on their little photo of shooters, those are some little lenses for what they are shooting--looks like the biggest one there is a Canon 70-200/2.8.

I called and checked with the Zoo. Unfortunately they have already filled every available opening for the Sleepover. :oogle
The person I spoke with said that they are looking at the possibility of increasing the frequency of the sleepovers based on demand.
The Zoo’s event scheduling calendar only goes out to November, let's hope they'll schedule another one soon.
I am planning on hitting that up first thing sunday morning. My friend went last weekend and got some great shots from the pier.
95% chances I'm going early morning Saturday (hope to be there 6:30-ish)
You'll find me by two Canon bodies, Lowepro backpack, full Darth Vader attire and a PYT assistant .
Email/PM me for the cellphone info in case you're going.

Cool!
Well, I don't want to fight for parking space and want to make sure there is no trafic (I'm coming from Ventura side of LA). Besides, taking "getting ready" shots can be also fun if my experience with other sporting events is any indication. I plan to start 5:30 from Thousand Oaks, and it should take about 1hr .. 1hr 20 min to get there... Let's meet here

Some activites are fun solo, some are fun in groups. Photography, as I'm finding, is lots of fun with other people. I'm a bay area guy looking to meet other local photographers. Do you want to run around downtown San Jose for an afternoon? How about a trip to San Francisco for some candid street shots? Maybe even a trip to Yosemite or Big Sur for some landscapes and wildlife. I'm happy to talk about post processing too. The choices are many.
I'm up for just about anything that involves wholesome photography. If you plan a casual shooting day, mind if I tag along? I'm simply trying to expand my group of photography buddies.
Does this sound interesting? Reply here or send a PM please.
Planning a meetup in Seattle
Hi All,
Just polling the crowd to see if there would be interest in a Seattle area adventure of somekind the first few weeks of October?
And also suggestions for what to go shoot. Should be leaves changing about then if anyone knows the best places to pick up fall photos?
Possibly a trip to the Washington Park Arboretum would be fun.

I have been wanting to do this anyway. Weather permitting and I'm also a no-go for the weekend of the 13-14th. Other than that, count me in - or any other good suggestions...

Hey Sheila!
I see that you use a Canon dSLR.
Just wondering if you are a member of the Los Angeles Canon dSLR Users group on Yahoo? If not let me point it out... http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/lacdg/
Lots of nice people there and we sometimes get together on outings. Suggest one of your own!
I'm in Lake Forest, by the way.

Thanks Bill and Nikolai,
I have requested to join both groups. How often do they meet to shoot? By the way I live in Aliso Viejo.
