Thanks for the continuing info, folks.

Actually, the only one of those cars to spend any time in NC is mine...and that's only while I'm in college. 99% of those lifetimes have been spent in Maryland.

That isn't really a body kit, I actually think its somwhat a factory accessory. Most of the M3 race cars use it, even Turner Motorsport IIRC. Doug, correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry, been busy planning my wedding. What now? What part are we referring to?

Someone mentioned buying an E46xi earlier. Just be careful, there is a reason none of the 25 employees that work here drive an E46. The worst chassis BMW has built, ever.

We repair and reinforce two to three E46 rear subframe mountings a week here.

I used to keep cars for 10+ years. Not any more.
Right now, my average is three. Even less with m/c's lol3.gif

I got a weird call on the cell yesterday. Guy from the local BMW car
dealership called. He wanted to know if I was still looking at the
    325. I had no idea what he was talking about. So I said "I didn't know
BMW made cars!"....oh boy. Then he told me I should swing by and
take a look see at their line up.

After about 15 minutes worth, I needed to get back to work. So I told
him I had another German car but really didn't drive it much cause
I rode my GS more. Then he asked what a GS was...I told him he
should swing by and have a look lol3.gif

He really was a good sport about the whole thing--I might stop by
next time I'm over that way and see if the test drive program at the
car dealer is the same as the BMW M/C dealer thumb.gif

Are they still doing full day test drives on the bikes? if so, then the answer is no. Heck, we used to have a family owned dealership that had a policy of you test drive the car by yourself (they would ask you if this was ok, if it wasn't they would come with you). Then some giant evil company (MileOne, which I'm convinced is a mafia operation) came in and forces you to test with a sales rep, even repeat customers. The sad thing is a lot of the guys who work there are the same as before so they apologize to their old customers because they realize what an atrocity it is to change that policy.

BTW, http://www.southernsportsawards.com/index.php?cID=6, find your local affiliate (those in the South, which goes as far north as VA) and watch it. I just got back from shooting it. Hosted at my college's theater. Music (though not my style - Bubba Sparxxx, Chris Daughtry, Monica, atheletes, jokes, and pretty girls - 'Bama Twins, Miss Teen USA, some SI Swimsuit Edition model, what more could you want). Oh, and they had some country style musician who I actually thought was talented, but I have no idea who he was (EDIT: It was Rodney Atkins)

You can't be gone all day but definitely 30-60 minutes. I suppose if you know
your dealer, it could be longer--I rode the GS for a couple of hours.

Personally, I think it's pretty trusting to let anyone take a M/C out for any
length of time. No, make that damn risk to let someone ride.

Yup, BMW definitely has put themselves one ahead of the pack by making sure all dealers have demo bikes. The reason I have my GS is because I was able to research it, but really cinch the deal with a solid test ride that convinced me. You can read till your blue in the face, but I always wonder how I used to be able to pull the trigger on all the Ducati's I owned before without ever even hitting the ignition button once.

I asked to test a 'busa with a yoshi kit in it a while ago because i wanted to see what everyone was raving about. It only had about 1k miles on the clock. They took my lic details & said "Its running outside...you may need to put fuel in it though" They had seen me looking at it the day prior. Man was that a fun solo 30 mins :yikes :yikes :yikes

I ride more than drive lately.

Like Erik said, a GS of course.

I don't fit in at work really. :)

I also have a MCS, it has turned into a rattle box but is still fun. I put less than 2000 miles on it in 2006. I put almost 9K on the GS. ne_nau.gif

Honestly, no idea. That was a customer's car that was here for a day. The owner of the silver M5 stopped by yesterday with his new 997 GT3. White with black interior. What a car.

Just one question: who's making the cake? Has the missus let it go to lower stress, or will she not trust anyone else??

And if it is an in-house cake, will you be delivering it? lol3.gif

We are skipping cake and getting chocolate ganache (sp?) filled and covered pears. They are supposed to be amazing.

You know...she needs to make ice cream cakes too. I always say at my wedding (if and when), I want a cookies and cream ice cream cake (and it won't be chicken or fish, it'll be 24oz of steak with steak fries on the side, that's it, no choice in the matter, and if you don't finish you get kicked out unless you can beat Evander Hollyfield in an arm wrestling competition).

So I pulled the ignition coils off the left side of my engine and they each had giant gaping holes in them.

I wrapped 10 layers of electrical tape around each one and put them back in.

    Wow

I have a completely different car! It feels like the power doubled and my gas mileage is back up to 20-25 instead of 10-12 :)
