Geez Doc! Nice work with the short lesson in BMW history. Clear and
concise it was. Very nice job.
Anyway, I want to clear something up regarding lane splitting in CA.
It is NOT legal and it is NOT illegal. The California Highway Patrol
descibes it as "permissible". Which is to say that if you ride like a
twit, you'll get a ticket. But what the CHP do and what the local PD
does maybe very different...you take your chances either way
Zach & Andy, Riding a motorcycle is great fun. But it comes with a
great responsibility. Some degree of maturity is required too. Not
age related more knowing oneself and recognising when you're
getting in over your head--before you actually do. It's not as simple
as getting in the car, turning the key and driving. Every time you
get on the bike, you have to make the decision to ride and you need
to have a clear head because everyone else is out to get you.
If you do decide to ride, take that MSF class. It will tell you whether
you want to ride. And you don't even need to own a bike. If you don't
like it, walk away and you're only out money. If you do like it, then
you've a leg up with the training.
Good luck if you decide to go for it.

Please tell me you don't actually like the wheels on these two (which btw violate Mercedes recommendations that you do not chrome factory unchromed MB wheels...that's what the ones on the second car are, and those will lose air pressure, they just do).
I couldn't agree more. It would look 100x better un-chromed.
Chrome wheels on a benzo is just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong!
Makes the car look cheap.
Sometimes I think Benz thinks the same thing and knows some way to make their wheels not hold air when chromed. They issue "do not chrome" our wheel warnings, people don't heed them, and somehow once chromed the tires lose air. This is also the company that when the new Chrysler 300 came out told their dealers that if they put a vinyl top on they'l be cut from the dealer network, so I wouldn't put it past them.
And you can go take your 4.0 somewhere else you jerk...making me look bad. I doubt I even got a 4.0 in a class this semester, though, to be fair to myself, the last time someone had a 4.0 average here was 5 years ago and they got an award.
I think given the smurf mobile, Zac has little room to talk here.
Though, in your case, I do again freely admit that this is me having gone off the deep end.
Still though, what color would you have gone? (it had to be those wheels, original style - same as the AMG's though not AMG branded, though not exactly knock offs since Ronal was an AMG supplier - I wanted the sidewall of 16", and I wanted 245 wide tires which meant it had to be 8" wide)

I'm not sure but likely, not painted/powder coated/chromed. Polished
maybe. I guess.

Have you seen my car?
I don't think full polished would go. Maybe full painted that German Silver wheel color, but I felt like that would be a waste of the deep dish, and I thought about dark matte gray but when I photoshopped it didn't look as good as body color (though, it would have been good if my lower panels were also dark, but then that wouldn't work with my paint color).
'spike, that car has such classic lines. It would be a shame to spoil it
with those rims. But I don't know what to suggest as an alternative.
I'd almost suggest a nice classic spoked rim but then I'm not sure that
would look good either.

But on the classic point, that's why I like these wheels, they're 80's cool. In 1985 this is what AMG would have put on them: body colored Pentas.
Also, Ian, you might be a bit late to the party, I'm not sure if you know what's being done to the car? Putting in a 560 engine (5.6 liter) with 10:1 repair size 2 JE pistons, port and polish the intake, heads, and exhaust ports, those tri-y's you saw above, H&R sport springs & Bilstein heavy duty shocks (the H&R's are a duplicate of the original AMG springs it seems, stiffer, lower it by about 1.5"), custom exhaust consisting of 2 2.5" pipes, an X-pipe (or H...I forget, it's the one that's better for power but doesn't sound as nice), a high flow cat for each side and a flowmaster at the back (so no resonators or anything like that), a second fuel pump, high flow fuel distributor, redline is raised to 6500rpm (with the engine parts being safe to 7k), beefed up transmission, and a limited slip diff if I can source one at a price I can afford (if not I'll just run on this diff for a while).
Actually, you know what, screw y'all. Every time I load this page I say "wow those wheels look awesome"
The wheels need to be silver or maybe black to be tasteful.
Blue = rice
After seeing your car I have some other suggestions; How about H&R loweing springs from tirerack? It will vastly improve your stance and handling. Also Euro spec headlights. I had those on my old w126 and the difference is amazing, not only looks but functionality too.

See the last post I made on page 120 of this thread. The H&R's are sitting under my bed.
I hate the euro lights look. These are Cibies, so they give me the euro-lights lighting with the US gen 1 look which is the look I like (well, on an SEC I like the euro lights look but on an SE I like the US gen 1 lights look). I was thinking about doing the wheels in black, dark grey, or light grey (to match the lower cladding), but when doing photoshopped tests the blue looked the best. Either way it's a done deal, and I like it. If you'veever had the pleasure to look through old AMG brochures (they are very nicely done), body color was the way it was done, and personally I agree with them.
Post a ps'ed version of the car. I'm just not seeing it. I'm liking the
direction the car is taking. I just don't see the wheels.
OBTW, just cause I don't see it doesn't mean it sucks.
bah, I deleted it. I'll have to find the car I used and retouch it. retouching takes like 5 seconds, finding the car I used...this might not happen until tomrrow.
In the first two instances, I think the wheels make the wells look like
big dark pits. The lighter color seems to work better. Maybe it's just
the dark color of the car?

That car is riding VERY high. He has an all around hydraulic suspension so when it had been on a lift for a long time it stretched out. Eventually it goes back to like 2.5 inches lower than that, and mine will be a further 1.5 inches lower.

I admit, I am absolutely nuts and have lost any sense of taste whatsoever. Oh well, it's fun (they match the body color).
What he said.
Blue wheels. You serious?

OH WAIT! Blue Ridge Parkway? Yes, that would be Headforemost Mountain Overlook near milepost 80.
