I'm just a beginner, here are a couple sports shots. Basketball and Cage Fighting (sanctioned by ISCF, legal in Missouri). Sorry about the watermarks... they're not for you guys... as soon as I watermarked my sports galleries, my sales went up :)

    Hello All!!

Fellow lurker, came across this site and fell in love with it!
Here are a few random pics that I enjoy!

Fairly new to the Photo/Dslr world.
I always enjoyed photography, started in high school with a point and shoot! Now shooting with a Cannon XTI W/Kit lens (18-55)
Looking to upgrade lenses, just not quite sure what to buy yet? Advice?
What are some good beginner wide angle lenses and Zoom lenses that wont break the bank!?

    Happy Trails!thumb.gif

    Greetings!
Hey everyone! Officially de-lurking here :)

My name is Dallas, and I've been doing SLR photography, digital and film, for about 3.5 years now. Currently shooting with a 5D and trying to get a small portrait business going while I finish college!:D

Here's a shot from January 2nd, doing a family shoot for a friend:

Hello everybody! I'm new to dgrin/smugmug and thought I would de-lurk.

I've been casually shooting for several years, and decided to get somewhat serious last year when I bought a Rebel XTi. I picked up a few lenses, some filters, and post a lot of my pics in my personal gallery. I decided to try selling some of my work, so I got myself a smugmug pro account.

(BTW, some of you may recognize me from the potn forums.)

    First DSLR, first post
After a month of research, it was the amazing macro photography posted on this forum that finally helped me decide that I wanted to purchase a Canon 400 (XTi). (Though after buying the camera it will be a little while before I can actually afford a macro lens.) In the meantime I tried taking the new camera out for a walk in the woods. I ordered a 2 GB memory card for it but it hadn't arrived, so I gathered together all the old 256MB compact flash cards I'd purchased a few years ago for my point and shoot. It was about 20 degrees out, and of course, every ten shots or so (at JPG + RAW) I had to change out the flash card. I ended up with four cards full of not-so-great images and seriously frozen hands!

Can't wait for the new card to arrive. And for spring!

Trying to de-lurk (cautiously). headscratch.gif Haven't posted before so all is very new and confusing (even after reading the how-to sections). Not sure I did what I was supposed to (but guess I'll find out).

Hello to all! My name is Tina aka T-Bo. Current camera is: Olympus Evolt E-330. Haven't opened up my galleries for public viewing yet - just not sure how that works but maybe soon. Started taking underwater photos (point and shoot now DSLR) - decided in order to take better underwater photos I needed to take better surface photos - the journey begins. Look forward to learning more (much to learn). A couple of my better photos.

Hello all! Fishin’ Musician here….This is my official de-lurking first time post.

I have been enjoying photography for the past 25+ years. Didn’t say I was good at it, but I have enjoyed it…Laughing.gif

I have made the journey from Polaroid to 35 mm film to P&S Digital and now today courtesy of the big brown truck, I am moving into DSLR. Being the new owner of a Canon 40D and a few lenses. Now the fun (and learning) begins!!

Looking forward to sharing some photos and learning from the fellow dgrinner’s.

Well, I'll take this chance to say 'Hello' now, as I'm not usually much of a poster.

I found this place while researching SmugMug. At the moment, I'm trial-ing the pro account, despite the fact that I'm a novice. I like to aim high...

I'm the new owner of a Sony A700 and loving it so far. Not ready to abandon film totally, but I already see that the new kid will be favored for a while.

    Glad to join this community!

    Hello all...
Only been a lurker for a few days.... Wow some of what I've seen is way impressive! I've always been into photography as a very minor hobby... Love to take pictures! I've only gotten more serious in the last year and a half. Bought a Nikon D50 in January of 07. I'm mostly an extreme sports fanatic. Mainly Motocross! I freelance with photos and writing articles about my favorite sport. Love to ride and taking shots keeps me going to the track and helps put a little change in my pocket.

I do enjoy taking shots anywhere of anything! My new main focus is my 4 month old Daughter Shaelea. Man, I cannot believe that something so precious was given to me! I will be sharing soon!
Thanks for the CC in advance. I look forward to learning from all of you.

    Hi everyone,

    I admit it.... I was lurking.... :D

I have been taking photos seriously now for a couple of years. Finally moved up from a point and shoot to a Olympus E330. Still learning about this camera, and am learning by clicking away.

    Have a great day!

i'm a combined n00b/lurker. i've been stalking the forums for about a week since i discovered smugmug but i just joined today. it's definitely a great source of information for customizing your smugmug, thx people. :)

anywho, i'm pretty new to photography, i've always had an interest but never pursued it. i was always just your average joe "casual photographer." you know, the person who would bring his camera to a party...when he could remember it...which usually was never.

then i planned a trip to Alaska and realized it'd be nice to have a better camera in hopes that it'd help produce some amazing images. that's when i bought my canon 40d. i've only had the camera since february so i'm still a huge n00b with it and i'm learning new things every day. i'm definitely glad i found this site because i'm sure it'll help me. the investment i've made into equipment so far has fueled me to take photography a little more seriously as a hobby. hopefully that means you guys can't get rid of me that easily... :P

Hello all, I have been with SmugMug for a few months now and thought now would be a good time to mossy on over to Dgrin. I have been digital for about a year now and I am still a super n00b, but loving every learning minute of it.

Here is a shot I took while on vacation with my wife to London this year. I used to work across the street from this corner 10 years ago when I was stationed there. That's where "Memories" comes from.

I found SmugMug the other day and am happily hooked. I have been looking for some place just like this for a long time. Glad to be here... consider me de-lurked. :)

Hi all, been looking at this site for a few months and just registered today and have put a few of my shots up (cautiously).... I know I'm no PRO photograher but I love taking pics and for someone with no training I think I do alright (at least I can hold the camera steady unlike my partner rolleyes1.gif). Am looking forward to hearing ideas on how I can improve and get better!!!!

Well, I guess I "delurked" when achambers lured me into trying out one of the challenges, but since I'm very much still a n00b I'll play. I still feel like a kindergartener playing in the middle school playground, but it's fun!

I'm a professional opera singer who has dabbled w/photography for many years, first in 35mm, but since going digital I'm getting quite passionate about it; it seems to use the same part of my brain as my musical world requires and thus interests me and stimulates me artistically, but without the same kind of professional pressure - it's just for fun and just for me! I'm having a *ball* with it, and am learning sooo much by hanging around this place. It's intimidating to see just how good images can be, but I'm trying to use it as something to aspire to rather than something to put me off :)

Well, it's time to make it official
    well, hello all!

I've been lurking here for a long long long time (or so it seems). Work won't let me log in from there so posting isn't even possible most of the time. I've resisted temptations on a few comments, since I wanted my ... ah... coming out to be something with purpose.

    So what's the purpose?

Well, I will be at the shootout in a few days and figured a few of you might like to know that (oh really?! yes really). I've been friends with Steph (schmoo) for several years and spent too much time hearing about this "dgrin" thing before I caved in and slid into the waters (much like bpal, sockdreams and smugmug, she's an EXCELLENT enabler :ivar )

I have a long history of photography, but NOT digital. My computer needed serious upgrading before I could get into that -- and even then I haven't dived into the post-processing aspect yet. For now, I'm exploring my art.

What is my art? No idea. But I see some photos that seem to mimic the style of some of the amazing folks here. That's all fine and dandy, but those photos (if taken through some miracle by me) aren't the sort to make ME happy. So I'm the one most likely to be wandering off on the side, doing weird things to try out new angles and see what I can do. (let us NOT discuss the entire backside of thorns I achieved this summer). With my luck, I'll lay down on a rattlesnake in Moab.

I hopped into the SmugMug side of things when I went "baby pro" earlier this summer -- I needed an easy site for the horse show photography I was doing. It started off as a few shows, and now is booking me into next year. I rely on my own eye for most of this, so that's my special power, so to speak. I can't wait to see what I can do once I have time to get into the post processing knowledge and work flows I need.

I'll go post my mug over in the mug form. I can't think I have anything artistic of myself (I mean, really. Self portraits? NOT my talent). However, if you see a short haired red-headed gal wandering around wondering who the heck most of you are (I'll know Steph, Trav, Matt and Ivar by then, but that's it!), then that's probably me.

    :hide

(ps. I DO play the :tough so all this photo stuff can't be THAT tough in comparison :) )
